VetPartners colleagues joined the thousands of participants at York Pride Parade – North Yorkshire’s biggest celebration of the LGBTQ+ community.
VetPartners was one of the businesses sponsoring the annual colourful celebration, which took place on Saturday 1st June in a show of support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Colleagues from the VetPartners central support team based in Clifton Moor, York, took part in the parade, which started at York Minster, before following a route through the streets of York city centre to the festival site on the Knavesmire.
At the festival site, VetPartners had a colourful trailer with a competition and prizes to be won, including York Gift Cards, which are part of an initiative created by the York BID to help support local businesses by keeping spending in the local economy.
VetPartners, which has 12,000 team members, is passionate about creating diverse and inclusive workplaces.
York Pride is one of the many events colleagues are taking part in this year to raise awareness for the LGBTQ+ community, with practice teams from Abbey Vets, Maes Glas, Valley Vets, Park Vets and St David Veterinary Centre in South Wales also gearing up to attend Pride Cymru, Wales’ annual Pride celebration in Cardiff held on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June.
VetPartners CEO Jo Malone said: “Our culture of warmth and belonging goes right to the heart of VetPartners and we nurture workplaces where our colleagues feel comfortable to be themselves.
“We celebrate our diverse workforce in many ways including attending Pride events, as we want to show our support to the LGBT+ community and give back to the beautiful city of York which is home to our central support office as well as many of our colleagues who also live here.
“Everyone had a fantastic time at York Pride, it gets bigger, better and more colourful every year and it’s always a great opportunity for us to be involved in.”
Charlie Gooby, pictured below, who works in the VetPartners People Team, was one of the colleagues who took part in the parade.
Charlie said: “VetPartners is an amazing place to work where you feel valued for who you are, not just what you do.
“I think having this type of workplace culture makes you want to come to work. It gives you the passion to always give 110% in everything you do.
At VetPartners, everyone has a seat at the table and everyone’s opinions count. Our culture is what makes us great.”
York Pride attendees also had the opportunity to speak to colleagues at the festival site about the career opportunities available across VetPartners in the UK and Europe and to find out what it’s like being a part of the VetPartners family.
