Excitement building as work starts on £1.4m Leeds veterinary practice

WORK is underway on a new £1.4million veterinary practice to provide the best possible care for pets across Leeds.

Beechwood Veterinary Group hopes to move into large, modern facility in March 2022 when work is expected to be completed to convert former offices at Temple House in Seacroft into a new state-of-the-art practice.

Excitement is building among the 20-strong team from Beechwood Vets’ main clinic in Crossgates, Leeds, who will move to the new site, which will boast the latest equipment and technology.

Plans for the new practice include seven consulting rooms, three operating theatres, a dedicated x-ray room, ultra-sound suite, dental theatre with dental x-ray, and separate cat and dog wards to offer the best possible service for clients and their pets. The new site will also have a dedicated room to provide a calm, quiet space for owners during difficult times, including clients suffering bereavement if their pet has been put to sleep.

VetPartners invests in its family of practices

Investment for the £1.4million practice is being provided by VetPartners, a York-based veterinary group, which has 160 of the UK’s most respected and trusted small animal, equine, mixed and farm practices.

Work on the new practice started on October 11th after a delay caused by the Covid crisis.

Beechwood Vets practice manager Kelly Mann said: “Moving to a bigger site and to a building that is being converted to meet our needs is a massive boost. We will be able to offer an enhanced service as there will be much more space for improved facilities, more parking for clients and separate cat and dog facilities.

“We have outgrown our current site in Crossgates and look forward to having more consult rooms so we can see more clients and provide more kennel space for patients. We have an excellent team of enthusiastic nurses, who are keen to develop nurse clinics and additional consulting space will allow this.”

Practice team is excited about move

The additional operating space will also enable Beechwood Vets to offer laparoscopy, or keyhole surgery, providing a minimally invasive alternative to a traditional spay surgery, as well as procedures like biopsies of the liver, kidneys and intestines.

The new site is big enough to house a CT scanner in the future, boosting the practice’s capability for handling a wider variety of cases, such as orthopaedics, soft tissue issues and tumour analysis.

Beechwood Vets clinical director Louise Mallinson added: “Everybody is really looking forward to the move and we can’t wait to have the extra space and improved facilities.

“Beechwood is already a great place to work, we’ve got lots of lovely patients and clients, and a kind and dedicated team who have a wide range of experience, special interests and extra qualifications. Unfortunately, space constraints at our current main site are limiting the facilities we can offer.

“The move to Temple House will provide more space, improved facilities, and new equipment, all of which will allow the team to use and develop their special interests, and help expand the services we can provide. This will improve patient and client care, and give the team a greater sense of job satisfaction, and so this is a really exciting time for us We’re very grateful to VetPartners for their investment and support and are really looking forward to welcoming our clients to Temple House in Spring 2022.”

Following the opening of the new practice, their main Crossgates site in Austhorpe Road will remain open as a branch surgery for routine healthcare.

Beechwood Vets has three other surgeries across Leeds in Chapel Allerton, Beeston and Garforth.
