Northampton vet practice looks ahead to a golden future with relocation

AN INTERNATIONALLY accredited veterinary practice is to relocate to larger premises in Northampton after outgrowing its current site.

The Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic, part of the Northlands Group, has been looking to move after demand for its treatment of cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small mammals grew substantially in recent years.

With the clinic currently holding the International Cat Care silver award as a ‘cat friendly clinic’, the new move will support its aim to become the only practice in Northampton to hold a gold award.

The Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic will move from its current site in Duston to the Animal Medical Centre, also part of the Northlands Group, in Abington on January 30th 2019.

Joseph Hill, Clinical Director at Northlands Group, said: “The changes will enable us to provide a high level of clinical care for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and other small mammals for all our clients based in Northampton and outside of the county.

“For the last few years the Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic has started to outgrow its current location, and with no opportunity to expand to meet the needs of clients, the decision has been made to move the clinic into the Animal Medical Centre.

“All staff will be moving over to the new premises and our three lead veterinary surgeons in Simon, Kim and Patricia have more than 90 years’ experience between them.”

Despite the name, the Cat and Rabbit Care Clinic has developed a particularly strong reputation for the care of guinea pigs, with owners travelling from as far afield as Scotland to have their furry friend treated by the team, led by veterinary surgeon Simon Maddock.

Simon’s team has also developed a strong partnership with the local RSPCA, caring for stray and abandoned cats so they are fit and well enough to find new homes.

A requirement of ‘cat friendly clinic’ accreditation means that the clinic will be unable to provide veterinary services for any dogs. All existing owners of dogs registered to the Animal Medical Centre have been notified of the change.

These owners have been offered a comprehensive range of veterinary services for dogs at the other six Northlands clinics in Northamptonshire, including in Kettering and Raunds.
