Sarah cooks up success with Palmerston practice promotion

A VETERINARY Nurse, who began her working life with the RSPCA, has landed a key role as Practice Manager after 15 years of service.

Originally joining the practice as a Student Veterinary Nurse, Sarah Cook has been promoted to Practice Manager at Palmerston Veterinary Hospital, which has three surgeries across the South of England.

Formerly an animal care assistant with the RSPCA, Sarah realised she wanted to do more to help animals and joined Palmerston Vets in 2002.

She said: “I have always loved animals and jumped at the opportunity to join this practice all those years ago, keen to learn and develop my skills so I can really make a difference to the lives of our beloved pets.

“I started from the very bottom and learned all about veterinary nursing from the excellent, expert team we have here.”

After two years of quality training at Palmerston, Sarah qualified in 2004 and remained at the practice, stepping up to Head Nurse in 2006.

Since Palmerston Vets joined VetPartners in 2017, owners of some of the UK’s most respected and trusted veterinary practices, Sarah has played a key role in the practice and after 15 years of outstanding service, is now looking forward to the opportunities the new position will offer.

Sarah said: “I have been at Palmerston for a very long time, which I think speaks for itself. The dedicated and highly skilled staff here, make my job an absolute pleasure and I am very excited about the future of the practice.

“Since joining VetPartners, there have been a multitude of opportunities to network and share best practice with other surgeries and practitioners and I am looking forward to making the most of further opportunities that will be presented to me in this new position.

She continued: “I am keen to continue moving forward with the help and support of the strong team behind me, whilst providing the best support for them possible.

“Ensuring we have a happy and productive work environment is incredibly important and guarantees that we continue to provide the highest standard of care for our clients.”

Following Sarah’s promotion, her deputy Katie Grimble, has been promoted to Head Veterinary Nurse.

Similarly, Katie joined the practice in 2004 and worked her way up through the ranks, thanks to excellent training she received at the practice.

Katie said: “Palmerston is an exceptional place to both learn and work and Sarah and myself have been supported from the very bottom, throughout our career progression. We are both determined to continue this ethos in our new roles.

“As Head Veterinary Nurse, I am most looking forward to maintaining the fantastic relationships we have with clients, and building many more.”
