Known for its culture and history, Scotland is famous for its food, music and literature, thanks to the works of the poet Robert Burns and others.

Its historic capital Edinburgh can be found in the Scottish lowlands, and has a respected university and plenty of tourist spots. Glasgow, the nation’s largest urban area, is also less than an hour away, and both cities are less than four hours away from London by train.

The beautiful Outer Hebrides are also popular with tourists and outdoor enthusiasts, with the Isle of Skye, Mull, Orkney Islands and Mull attracting many visitors each year.

Inland, you can find the rugged Grampian Mountains, as well as Loch Lomond, Trossachs National Park and the Cairngorms. These areas are very popular with walkers, hikers and climbers alike .

There are also 43 national nature reserves, which are nationally and internationally renowned for their wildlife, prehistoric landscapes, and remoteness.

There are a number of airports in Scotland, including Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Inverness, allowing for easy travel to other countries in Europe and beyond.
