New Graduate Farm Vet – Penbode Vets – Stratton, Cornwall
Here at Penbode Vets, we are looking to welcome a New Graduate Farm Vet to join our friendly team!
Our large farm only practice is situated in the lovely market town of Stratton, close to the beautiful Devon/Cornwall border and the coastal town of Bude. This fabulous location boasts a number of incredible beaches (including the beauty of the Bude Sea Pool) as well as some great historic sites to explore, and fun outdoor activities (such as archery) for you to do in your downtime.
Penbode Farm Vets is embedded in the local rural community and supports local clubs, schools, and associations. Away from the practice we are a down to earth lot and members of a variety of local sports clubs (hockey, rugby, football, netball), and enjoy running, walking, off-roading, pub quizzes, and dancing.
We have a wonderfully supportive farm only team of 16 farm vets across our 3 main sites, so you’ll have great colleagues who’ll be able to help you as you progress in your new career. Our clinical team of vets, VetTechs, and ATTs share the TB testing and auxiliary farm work, enabling the vets more time to focus on delivering the best possible service for our fantastic clients. We have a large dairy client base alongside plenty of beef, sheep, and smallholder work to suit all interests.
We deliver regular client training meetings, carry out export work, and actively engage in local and national initiatives. The size of the team ensures that there is always someone available for case discussions – either in the office or the pub!
As a New Graduate vet, you also have the opportunity of joining our fantastic Graduate Development Programme. As part of the VetPartners group, this programme means you will be able to embrace a blended learning approach of training days, in-house mentoring, CPD, and clinical practice, creating a varied platform for you to grow and develop as a Veterinary Surgeon. You will be offered both supportive 1-to-1 and group mentoring sessions, for engagement and interaction, as you develop an invaluable skillset. From surgical/medical experience, to enjoying teamwork, providing refined customer service, and gaining business knowledge to support the security of great patient care.
You can find out more about the programme at: https://vetpartners.co.uk/graduates/
You’ll work a 4.5-day week, with equal share of the OOH rota (1 in 5) with three vets on each night/weekend to offer plenty of support.
Ideally, this would be a full-time position, however, we would consider more flexibility to fit around other commitments or hobbies.
