York veterinary group have fun in the sun for animal charity

A YORK veterinary business has raised £400 with a dedicated day to fundraising for an animal charity.

Colleagues from VetPartners enjoyed a fun-filled fundraising day this weekend to raise money for Blue Cross, VetPartners’ chosen charity of 2018.

The veterinary group is made up of 89 practices, with 3,500 employees working in 334 sites across the UK and from its headquarters in Leeman House, York.

Hosted at Dunnington Cricket Club in York, the fun-day brought together staff from VetPartners’ core team and some of its Yorkshire and Lincolnshire veterinary practices which include The Minster Veterinary Practice and Mount Vets.

Activities included a five-mile fun-run, face painting, a bake sale and outdoor games for colleagues, friends and family to enjoy while raising vital funds for Blue Cross.

The animal charity cares for more than 40,000 sick, abandoned and homeless dogs, cats, small animals and horses every year and hopes to raise that to 70,000 by 2020.

Business development director Tim Shearman helped organise the charity day and hopes to host more throughout the year.

Tim said: “We wanted to raise money for Blue Cross in a fun and inclusive way where people from both practices and head office could get involved.

“Our team pulled together, and we had staff from across the group in all kinds of positions, volunteer their spare time to help out and make sure the day ran smoothly.

“It was a huge success and everyone involved should be very proud of themselves for coming together and raising money for such a great cause.”
